You are viewing torpedo tubes #3 & #4. Tubes 5 & 6 are below
the deck plates. Tubes 1 & 2 were removed in the
early 50's during her conversion to an SSK. The tubes were removed to
make room for additional sonar gear. The torpedo on the immediate right is a MK45 ASTOR. The ASTOR was a nuclear tipped Anti Ship Torpedo. To the right of the MK45 is a MK16 Torpedo, these were the type carried later in World War II. The green torpedo to the left is a MK14 torpedo which was carried during the first part of World War II
