The US Navy transferred possession of the Cavalla to the Texas Submarine Veterans of World War II. The Cavalla was then brought to her permanent berth at Seawolf Park in Galveston, TX. Seawolf Park is a memorial to the USS Seawolf, one of 52 submarines sunk during World War II. The Cavalla is a memorial to those submariners still on eternal patrol. Next to her is the USS Stewart DE-238, one of only two remaining destroyer escorts in the world. |
